My Story

Hi there! My name is Skittles, and I’m a fun-loving, energetic girl looking for my forever family! ?

I’m currently living in a foster home with my foster Pyr brother, Auggie, and I’m doing great! I really enjoy having another dog around and would love to have an active canine companion in my forever home who will play, explore, and go on adventures with me. I’m still a young girl with plenty of energy to burn, so an active family would be a great match for me.

One of my favorite things is going for walks! As soon as I see the leash, I’m ready to go. I’m still working on not pulling, but I do especially well when I’m walking with another dog because I try to match their pace. I’m curious about the dogs, people, and critters I see along the way, and I’m learning to listen when my foster mom redirects me.

My foster mom is also very proud to tell everyone that I’m house-trained. I know how to let her know when I need to go outside by heading to the door, and I do really well with a regular routine.

I’m a smart girl, too! I know sit, stay, come, and off, and I’m especially eager to show off my skills when treats are involved. I love figuring out what I need to do to earn a reward. Give me something to learn or a little job to do, and I’m happy!

I can be a little unsure when meeting new people and may bark at first. I didn’t get much practice greeting visitors in my previous home, so I’m still learning. Just give me a little time to watch and figure things out, and I’ll settle down and be ready to meet you. Once I know you, I love attention, being brushed, lots of petting, and even belly rubs!

I also LOVE water! ? Whether I’m splashing around or playing with the garden hose, water is one of my favorite things. I’ll chase and bite at the stream and happily turn it into my own little game. My foster mom says I’m a bundle of energy who loves having something fun to do.

Oh, and I love my toys and bones! I can be protective of my special chews around other dogs, though, so it’s best for me to enjoy those separately. I’m fine with my humans handling them and will happily trade you if I happen to pick up something I shouldn’t have.

I’ve come a long way, I’m doing wonderfully in my foster home, and now I’m ready for a family of my very own. If you’re looking for a smart, playful, curious girl who loves walks, water, other dogs, and being part of the family, I’d love to meet you!

Love,
Skittles ?

Donate to Great Pyrenees Rescue of Atlanta

Our main mission at GPRA is to find the right permanent home for Great Pyrenees in distress, whether they are strays or from an overpopulated kill or no-kill shelter. We don’t care how old they are or what their medical condition is because we will make sure they receive a comprehensive medical evaluation, spaying or neutering, and even behavioral training if necessary.
